Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music is when she discovered an old grand piano hidden in the attic. It was awe-inspiring to see its capabilities. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. The Aksnes family encouraged her to not to play music only for pleasure or as a means of growth but rather, she was encouraged to pursue it. Thus, she began her own compositions. She is credited with Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and Bjork as her main influences. Her mother encouraged her to perform her songs in public, not so that she could gain fame but rather to help others realize how important they are and what they can do to make a difference in the world. When she was six, she began to play the piano. At age nine, she was writing music. It was not until she turned 14 when she shared her story with her parents. The dream was never to turn into Aurora. The singer says that she simply likes writing songs. Music to her is the best method of feeling anything.
